LADY COLONELS SIGN GUARD FROM FLORIDA

RICHMOND, Ky. - Eastern Kentucky University women's basketball coach Larry Joe Inman has announced the signing of Teresa McNair, 5-9 guard from Forest High School in Ocala, FL, to a national letter-of-intent.

McNair averaged 20.1 points, 6.4 rebounds, 7.2 steals and 4.2 assists for coach Dave Horner at Forest High last season. She was also selected to the first team of the Class 5A All-State squad by the Florida Sports Writers Association for the 1998-99 season.

"Teresa's quickness is phenomenal. She can flat-out fly," said EKU assistant coach Kent Miller. "Her understanding of the game is terrific, plus she's a good shooter from outside and a player that can slash and score. She's going to be a great addition to our program."

Forest High coach Horner agrees with Miller's assessment of McNair's talents.

"She's the best thing that I've seen around here in a long time. Teresa has good grades, a great attitude, a good work ethic and she's a leader. All the positive things you want in an athlete, she's got them," Horner said.

McNair was an All-Area MVP in 1999 and a first-team All-Area choice in 1998. She started at point guard in the Florida Athletic Coaches Association All-Star Game for the North All-Stars this past year.

Another honor she has collected includes being selected Mrs. Forest High School, a title that was voted by her classmates in school. Also, McNair was the state 400-meter champion as a sophomore, running a 56.4 in the state finals. (She did not run in this meet as a junior as she spent all of her extra time working on increasing and fine-tuning her basketball skills.)
