KATIE KELLY SIGNS WITH EKU LADY COLONELS

RICHMOND, Ky. - Eastern Kentucky University head women's basketball coach Larry Joe Inman has announced the signing of 5-6 guard Katie Kelly from Uniontown, PA, to a national letter-of-intent.

Kelly averaged 23.6 points, 6.5 assists, 6.1 rebounds and 5.2 steals per game as a senior for Albert Gallatin High School in Uniontown. She finished her high school career as AGHS's all-time leading scorer with 1,687 career points.

"Katie is going to be a fun player to watch for our fans. She can not only score, but can handle the point as well, as shown by her assist average. We're very pleased she is going to join our program this fall," said Inman.

She has been a four-year starter at the point for Albert Gallatin and received the Quad A Freshman of the Year award. She was a four-year Fayette County All-County Team choice. She was named to several All-Tournament teams during her career and was an MVP choice on five different occasions at these tourneys.

This past season, she was the Pittsburgh Post Gazette WPIAL "Athlete of the Week" and was the leading scorer and had the most steals in the Franklin Regional High School Snowflake Classic last December.

She was also the Fayette County Senior Recognition Games 3-Point Champ, Foul Shooting Champ and 2-Ball Champ. She was the Herald Standard Player of the Year for 1999-2000, was a first-team All-State player by the Post Gazette and was a member of the HeraldStandard Fantastic Five Class AAAA First Team this past season.

Other honors include the WPIAL "Unsung Hero" Award as a sophomore and Uniontown Herald Standard "Fantastic Five" All Area as a junior when she averaged 21.4 points, 8.3 assists and 4.2 rebounds per game. She was also a four-time All-Section Quad A first team selection.
