LADY COLONELS SIGN POST PLAYER FROM INDIANA

RICHMOND, Ky. - Eastern Kentucky University women's basketball coach Larry Joe Inman has announced the signing of Leigh Carr, 6-0 forward-center from North Harrison High School in Ramsey, IN, to a national letter-of-intent.

Carr, who will play in the Indiana High School North/South All-Star game, averaged 21.3 points 11.1 rebounds per game, while hitting 51.8 per cent from the field, 80.5 per cent from the free throw line and 32.0 percent from three-point territory this past season.

"Leigh Carr is an outstanding basketball player and an outstanding young lady," said Inman. "She will be a tremendous asset to our program here at EKU. She is an outstanding scorer and a well-balanced basketball player.

"She currently holds 10 school records to account for her overall ability and has been academically outstanding, having been a representative on the academic team. We are extremely excited for Leigh and the very positive attributes she brings to EKU and our program," he added.

Carr, a native of DePauw, IN, was named to the All-Mid Southern Conference Team, the All-State second team, the All-Sectional Team, the Courier-Journal second team and the East Girls All-Star team and North Harrison MVP this year.

She was a member of the National AAU qualifier team, the Michigan Nationals All-Tourney team, the Rio Grande All-Tourney team and she was chosen among the Top 40 girls in Indiana.

She holds 10 school records at North Harrison, including career marks for most points (1,453), highest scoring average (17.0), best free throw percentage (74.9) and most rebounds (784). Her single season records include most rebounds (256), most points (489), highest scoring average (21.3) and best free throw percentage (80.6).

She also holds marks for most rebounds in a single game (24) and most consecutive free throws made (27).

She is a member of the National Honor Society and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
