LADY COLONELS LOSE THIRD STRAIGHT

RICHMOND, Ky. - The Eastern Kentucky University women's basketball team lost its third straight contest, falling to Southeast Missouri Saturday night, 101-93.

It was the third time this season the Lady Colonels have surrendered 100 or more points, each time in losing efforts. EKU led nearly the entire first half and took a 32-28 advantage into the locker room at the break.

The second half saw eight lead changes and three ties as the two teams tried to gain an advantage. Southeast Missouri built its largest lead of the second half with 2:47 remaining in the game, making the score 68-60. Eastern Kentucky then went on a 12-4 run to tie the game at the end of regulation. During that run, freshman guard Mikki Bond scored six of her team-high 20 points.

With the game tied, the Lady Colonels had one chance to win the contest. At the buzzer, Bond put up a running ten-footer that was just long, and the teams went to overtime.

In overtime, Eastern built a seven point lead with 1:43 remaining on the clock, but the Lady Colonels were unable to hold on to that lead. Southeast Missouri closed the overtime on a 9-2 run to once again tie the game. Again, the Lady Colonels had a chance to finish off the Otahkians. Sophomore Larrya Wall had a look at the buzzer, but it was a tough shot that just did not fall.

In the second overtime, it was all Southeast Missouri as the Otahkians outscored the Lady Colonels 16-9 in that decisive five minutes. Eastern was unable to stop SEMO's Paula Corder who poured in a career-high 44 points on nine of 11 three point shooting.

The Lady Colonels allowed far too many free throws by SEMO as the Otahkians set a school record, attempting 54 charity shots. Eastern committed 37 personal fouls and saw five players foul out of the game, making them very thin for the overtime runs.

Leading the way for Eastern was Bond who recorder her first career double-double as she scored 20 points and grabbed a career-high 11 rebounds. Sophomore Charlotte Sizemore added 18 points and five rebounds, while freshman Zoey Artist contributed a career-high 16 points and seven rebounds.

The Lady Colonels fell to 4-6 overall and 1-2 in the Ohio Valley Conference.
